Linda McDermitt

Consistency, Community Involvement, Passion to Help Others, Integrity, and Mentoring are five characteristics that best defines Linda McDermitt.  She has worked in the financial services community for over 35 years, helping protect families and businesses from unforeseen catastrophies and circumstances. 

Linda has earned a reputation for providing skilled and practical guidance as a registered representative and locally recognized authority on individual, business, and estate planning.  Linda started her career at Wadell & Reed as a secretary, was mentored by her boss into the life insurance field, then moved onto to Philadelphia Life before heading up the Valley Office for the Fricke & Associates Agency.  Now Linda has teamed up with her son, Dean McDermitt, to co-found 2M Insurance Solutions, LLC, an independent insurance agency which specializes in Life Insurance & Retirement Planning for individuals, farmers/ranchers, and businesses.
Linda has always focused on her community.  She has been the President of the Professional Insurance Agents of Nebraska, and has gone to several conventions and conferences in Washington, D.C.  She has also been a board member of that organization.  Linda is currently on the board of the Metropolitan Community College, where she just served as the Chair.  Linda is a past President and current member of the Western Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, and she is also a founding and current member of the Western Douglas County Rotary.

Linda takes everything to heart when it comes to her clients.  She is saddened over their losses, and elated over their successes.  This true passion to help others is a rare quality not found in our era now.  Linda’s personality of being friendly, outgoing, and compassionate is a compelling factor why her clients love her.  She always gets hugs when visiting her clients.

Integrity is an easy word to define, but hard to live up to.  Linda exemplifies this quality.  She will always do what is right for her clients, no ands, ifs, or buts.  Linda always looks out for the best interest of her clients, even if that means not earning a penny from her recommendations. 
 
Linda mentored her son, Dean to make sure there is continuity with her clients when she retires.  Linda is semi-retired now, helping her clients in a limited capacity, while Dean handles most of the workload.

Dean McDermitt has had an interesting road to becoming an insurance agent/registered representative.  Dean received his Construction Engineering Degree from Iowa State University, but worked in sales selling educational reference guides to families in North Carolina the summer between his junior and senior year.  “I’d have to say, looking back at that experience defined the person I am today, I just didn’t realize it until later.”

Dean started his career with Peter Kiewit & Son’s Construction Company in the Albuquerque, NM office.  He worked between New Mexico and Colorado on multiple jobs working his way up to Project Engineer, one step below Superintendent.  After 3 years of biding his time working where he was asked to go, Dean found out he wasn’t being groomed to go any further with Kiewit.  Ironically, he was friends with a few other graduates who lived in Albuquerque, without knowing each other in school.  Dean was asked to interview for a mortgage loan officer position, told about from one of these friends.
Dean got the position and was now in the services field.  He was very successful and after only six months, he started to get groomed for management.  “It was very natural for me to talk about saving money with people in their homes.  I guess my engineering background of solving problems came in handy.  It’s just that I’m solving financial problems, instead of construction problems.”  Dean was to become the manager in the Seattle office in a few short months.  However, the company was rumored to be sold so he decided to move back and start over in his home town, Omaha.  Dean worked in the mortgage field for 12 years, before the real estate bubble crash.  He even owned his own mortgage brokerage from 2003-2009.

Dean decided it was time to change careers once again, and looked to his mother for guidance.  Linda made the comment, if he were to get his life insurance and registered representative license, he could work alongside her as a team.  So that is what he did.  We all knew he had the work ethic and intelligence, but we didn’t know he would almost ace those exams.

Now it is apparent, this is Dean’s calling.  He is genuine, friendly, outgoing, thorough, direct, knowledgeable, and very analytical when recommending actions for his clients to take.  “That very first sales job the summer between my junior and senior year of college, not only was the key to getting hired with Kiewit, but would be the absolute foundation for my life!”
